01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Koreatown, Los Angeles, Tacos El Venado offers an authentic Mexican culinary experience that is both approachable and deeply satisfying. This open-air taco shop has quickly become a beloved spot for locals and visitors craving bold, flavorful tacos served with generous portions that truly fill you up.

The cuisine here centers on Mexican street food classics, with a special emphasis on meats that are fresh, tender, and richly seasoned. Among the standout dishes, the Al pastor tacos draw particular praise for their exceptional balance of spices and succulent texture, often hailed as a fan favorite. Equally enticing are the carnitas, praised for their tender juiciness and depth of flavor, delivering that unmistakable taste of traditional Mexican comfort food.

Dining at Tacos El Venado is an intimate yet casual affair. The open-air setup fosters relaxed vibes, inviting you to savor every bite amid the lively atmosphere of Koreatown. Reviews mention a chill, welcoming service that complements the cozy environment, making it an ideal stop for a late-night craving or a casual meal with friends. Don’t miss finishing off your visit with their churros—crispy, golden, and perfectly sweet—a delightful way to round out your meal.

One of the most impressive aspects of this spot is how they balance quality with generosity; tacos here rarely skimp on meat, leading one visitor to celebrate the “so much meat” loaded into each bite. Parking convenience adds to its appeal, with free parking available nearby, a rare perk in bustling LA. While popular meats may occasionally run out, the overall menu diversity ensures there’s always something fresh and satisfying to try on your next visit.

Tacos El Venado stands out as a hidden gem that encapsulates the soul of Mexican street cuisine—bold, hearty, and utterly memorable. Whether you’re a longtime taco enthusiast or new to this flavorful tradition, this Koreatown favorite promises a genuinely delicious experience that keeps diners coming back for more.

Just as good as the other location in NoHo. The meats are all fresh and the toppings are great. The only downside is that they sometimes run out of certain popular meats. Highly recommended. The Al pastor is exceptional.

We love coming to this spot for the Al pastor tacos, they open in the afternoon around 4:30 when we went so sometimes we miss them after our Chipotle run, we love that they serve the tacos loaded with meat so that adds a lot more meat to our chipotle bowl we have created the best of both worlds. & great free parking with the parking lot in that same corner is a plus.

Holy moly, my new favorite taco spot. Been meaning to try them for ages, and was finally hungry enough on my way home from the cinematheque. Here’s to extraordinary art house cinema followed by extraordinary tacos. The Al Pastor was ON POINT. It’s rare to find authentic pastor outside of DF and this is IT. As I sat by the parking lot, getting an accidental whiff of gasoline, it was almost like being back in El Defectuoso!!! Carnitas was good too, but the moist kind, rather than the crispy kind I truly love. But the meat was PILED HIGH on both tacos and the salsa bar ample and luscious. Avocado salsa!!! Don’t walk, run.

I had their Tacos for a few times now, and it's delicious. Love their burrito as well, and I like that I can spread avocado or any of those sauces myself and give it back to the cooker to wrap it. The nachos portion is big, so I always tend to share it with someone at home. I have only done takeout since the street intersection doesn't look peaceful to have a meal in there. I recommend it for a quick, easy meal after work or a few drinks
